April 11 (Reuters) - Canada's main stock index opened higher on Friday, led by gains in materials stocks, following positive earnings from major U.S. banks including JPMorgan, while investors also assessed the latest escalation in the U.S.-China trade war.
At 9:31 a.m. ET (1331 GMT), the Toronto Stock Exchange's S&P/TSX composite index (.GSPTSE), was up 0.5% at 23,127.89 points.
